With an area of 61 sq.km, Graciosa lies 1.5 hours by ferry north of Sao Jorge and 20 minutes by air north west of Terceira. Oval in shape, the north and north-east areas are low and flat. The island is 12.5km long and 8.5km wide at its maximum width. This is a tranquil island, harder to reach and therefore untouched by time.
