Updated 14:00 Tuesday 16 September 2008

XL Airways ceased trading at 02:00 on Friday 12 September and all aircraft were grounded.

The last 4 days have been very testing times for everyone in the travel industry.

Having resolved the immediate issues of last weekend, we have now turned our attention to the days and weeks ahead.

I am very proud to say that so far we have managed to continue with all holidays as planned and, as per the 1992 package travel regulations, it has not cost our passengers a penny extra.  All our customers, who were due to fly back from Greece, came back in to the UK on the date they had originally booked and all customers due to depart from the UK, are now in resort.

There has obviously been some disruption but all our customers have been very appreciative of the alternative arrangements that have been made.

Looking forward to the next few days, we are not expecting to cancel any flights but, as I am sure you will appreciate, it is taking time to organise alternative aircraft.

Some of the airports that we use in Greece have special restrictions on the type and size of aircraft that can be used.  This adds to the complications.

If you or your clients are due to travel in the next few days I can fully appreciate that this is a worrying time.  I would ask that you remain patient and allow us to make the best alternative arrangements.

As soon as flight details are known they will be posted below and our reservations team will contact you to advise you of the details.  With all departures so far, passengers have been able to use their existing XL Airways tickets.

Thank you for you patience and understanding at what is a difficult time for everyone concerned.
